Our romance...

After all the tumult and rush of the past week, the date night we had last night was sorely needed. I had been feeling a little disconnected from us, not because of our actions, but rather because so much had been going on that we hadn’t had much time to spare for one another doing much outside of the practical work of setting up the new home. That we were able to have our date in the apartment, though, was a testament to a job well done.

We’ve both experienced in the past with other partners a lack of either willingness or awareness, sometimes both, of our romantic needs, especially those that aren’t sexual. For those like us, for whom romance is a true need, to live without it starves the heart and soul, leaving us feeling hollowed out and empty. Even on our most stressed and hectic days, that isn’t us. We always find ways to check in, steal a few moments to express the love and want we share for one another.

For us, across the miles, romance is a sweet statement of longing, a random photo, or any other way of telling the other that we’re thinking of them, and wish they were there. It’s carving out time to drive you home, or to curl up together, listening to music. When we’re in the same place, it’s little touches, glances across the table, and crawling into bed at night, exhausted, and wanting nothing more than to be in one another’s arms.

Though it may sometimes be lean, like last week, we’ll never starve as long as we hold to that, and I have complete faith that we will, for the rest of our life together. You are amazing, and we are amazing. I love you, my sweet girl, with all my heart and soul. After all the tumult and rush of the past week, the date night we had last night was sorely needed.
