The simple and the profound...

For all the deputy and breadth of things that we’ve talked about, for all the deep dives into the important, and the unimportant, there are things which can’t be learned over a distance. They have to be lived. While that applies to all kinds of big, important things, the small, everyday, domestic activities are also just as vital to learn and explore with one another. Today was a day full of those.

We woke up, made breakfast, worked through some planning for the transitions of the next few months, then went out into the world. We had a quiet lunch together, looked at clothes (and a few bunnies), then did some grocery shopping. It was all so simple, but it still felt profound in its simplicity. It was life, but it wasn’t flashy nor dramatic. It wasn’t boring, either, though. It was the way we will, I hope with all my heart, spend the rest of our lives. I want all the adventures, the growth, the exploration, but I want the quiet in between, as well.

This evening, you asked me why I loved you. I held your hands and talked for nearly forty minutes, bringing you to tears three times (and myself twice). I thought that, too, was worth mentioning. I love you, my sweet girl, with all that I am.
